Johnson & Johnson Board Has a Wealth of Experience in a Variety of Industries
Healthcare giant Johnson and Johnson reported a 7.7% decline in Q3 net income, however high overseas sales still allowed it to beat Wall Street estimates (see article from Seeking Alpha). We created an IntellectSpace Knowledge Map to "visualize" the management experience of the Board of Directors. We were surprised to find that the Directors at Johnson & Johnson include well-known names and have experience in a wide-variety of industries.
Two of the more notable names on the Board at Johnson & Johnson are Citigroup CEO Charles Prince and former United States Surgeon General David Satcher. Mr. Prince has been a Director at Johnson & Johnson since 2006 while Dr. Satcher has been on the Board since 2002.
The Directors of Johnson & Johnson display a great deal of experience in various industries besides healthcare. Some of the more notable companies the Directors have corporate ties to are Whirlpool, Marriott, Frito Lay, Delta Air Lines, American Express, ExxonMobil, Citigroup, BellSouth, MetLife, Agilent Technologies, and Prudential Financial.
A number of Directors also hold leadership positions in non-corporate organizations such as the Council on Foreign Relations, the United Negro College Fund, the United States Naval Academy, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the World Health Organization, and the State of New Jersey Supreme Court.
With this multitude of experience in a great variety of fields, the Directors at Johnson & Johnson seem to have the company on the right track.
