Exxon Mobil Disappoints in Latest Quarter, But Board Experience Could Soon Lead to Positive Numbers

Screenhunter_32_nov_01_0902Exxon Mobil is feeling the heat today as posted profit declines for the second quarter in a row, concerning investors with a 10% loss (see article by David Gaffen from WSJ MarketBeat ). We created an IntellectSpace Knowledge Map of the current corporate connections Exxon’s Board of Directors in order to determine how executive experience and industry ties could help push for a turnaround in the next quarter (Note: the information contained and presented in Knowledge Maps is public information from the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States of America).

Nearly all of Exxon Mobil’s Directors currently hold some type of Executive or Board position with additional corporate entities, as illustrated in this Knowledge Map. The degree of experience is shown to be extremely diverse, with such individuals as Michael J Boskin serving as a Director at such decidedly non-oil related companies as Oracle, Vodafone and Shinsei Bank. Other notable connections are present through Exxon Mobil Directors William W George and William R Howell. George is a Director at Goldman Sachs and Novartis, and Howell is a Director at multiple companies that include Halliburton, Pfizer and the Williams Companies. IBM, Johnson & Johnson and Campbell Soup are among the other major entities with close ties to Exxon Mobil through its Board of Directors.

Exxon Mobil may have to draw on the diverse connections and experience of its Directors to bring about success in the next quarter.
