Exxon Mobile Corp Chalks Up Record Net Income in 2007
(NewsVisual, powered by IntellectSpace) -- At a time when American consumers face high gasoline prices at the pump, Exxon Mobil Corp (NYSE: XOM) announced on Friday morning that it garnered strong results in all of its business segments and that for the full-year 2007 net income and earnings, excluding special items, were a record $40,610 million or $7.28 per share, the company reported in a press release.
“We continued to supply crude oil and natural gas volumes to meet the world’s energy needs through disciplined development and operation of our globally diverse resource base,” said CEO/Chairman Rex W Tillerson in the statement.
He added the following comment to underscore the benefits to investors:
“The Corporation distributed a total of $35.6 billion to shareholders in 2007 through dividends and share purchases to reduce shares outstanding, up $3.0 billion from 2006.”
The markets, however, responded negatively, sending the company’s share price down from the previous close of $86.40 to $86.07 in late-morning trading (11:05am ET).
