UBS Directors Will Not Experience Same Financial Pain at Shareholders
(NewsVisual, powered by IntellectSpace) -- Although a Bear Stearns downgrade caused the Swiss bank UBS AG (NYSE: UBS) share value to decline 2 percent, the bank's Board of Directors all appear to be personally insulated from the loss.
NewsVisual created an IntellectSpace Knowledge Map of the UBS Directors that shows that none of them have ownership of any of the bank's stock.
On the other hand, the Knowledge Map shows that three UBS Directors have company ownership in other corporations:
Because the Map links to a SEC Scheduled 14A filing by Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ: MSFT) on Sept 28,2007, NewsVisual was able to determine Director Helmut Panke was awarded on Jan 31, 2007 120,000 shares of Microsoft stock as annual compensation for serving as a Director of Microsoft.
Likewise, UBS Director Peter Spuhler has company ownership in Stadler Ltd, a company for which Spuhler is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. The Knowledge Map shows that Spuhler is the owner of Stadler Rail AG, which he acquired in 1989 when the company had only 18 employees. The Dec 30, 2006 SEC filing shows the company grew to employ over 1,000 people, suggesting that Spuhler's wealth has also grown considerably.
In addition, the Knowledge Map shows that UBS Director Lawrence A Weinbach, who was previously the Chairman and CEO of Unisys, has ownership in Discover Financial Services, Quadra Reality Trust Inc, and Avon Products Inc.
For example, the Knowledge Map links to a SEC Form 4 document filed by Avon on Sept 30 2007, which shows that Director Weinbach has direct ownership of 4,971.29 shares of Avon's common stock.
This NewsVisual analysis suggests that these three UBS Directors have their personal finances well positioned to endure any downturn in UBS.
