Can the Directors at Credit Suisse Prevent it from Being the Next Domino to Fall?

Screenhunter_02_mar_20_1122(NewsVisual, powered by IntellectSpace) -- Because news reports say that Credit Suisse Group (NYSE: CS) will probably post losses for this fiscal quarter, nervous investors are bound to wonder whether it will succumb to the same dire fate as The Bear Stearns Companies Inc (NYSE: BSC), which narrowly averted bankruptcy by accepting a buyout deal from JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE: JPM) this past Sunday.

"The Zurich-based company said today it will write down $2.65 billion over the fourth quarter of 2007 and the first three months of 2008, making a profit this quarter [is]'unlikely,'" reported Bloomberg News in an online article on Thursday.

Whatever the true extent of Credit Suisse’s financial difficulties might be, there can be little doubt that its current circumstances will require its leadership to make sound decisions in the coming months in order to ensure that it returns to fiscal health.

NewsVisual created an IntellectSpace Knowledge Map showing the corporate ties of the Board of Directors at Credit Suisse to determine their collective corporate experience.

The Knowledge Map indicates that the following Credit Suisse Directors have experience in running several well-known European and American companies:

Richard Thornburgh is also a Director at New Star Financial and Dollar General; Rainier Gut is the former Chairman of Nestle SA and a former Director with L’Oreal; Peter Letmathe is the current CEO/Chairman of Nestle SA as well as Director at L’Oreal and Dreyers Ice Cream; Ernst Tanner is the CEO/Chairman of Swiss chocolate maker Lindt & Sprungli AG; Noreen Doyle is a Director with Newmont Mining Corp; and Robert Benmosche is the former CEO/Chairman of MetLife Inc.

With their years of collective experience, it seems likely that the Board of Directors at Credit Suisse are more than capable of quickly turning the company around and should be on track to post better earnings in the near future.
