EA Makes Another Attempt For Take-Two

Screenhunter_01_mar_31_0945(NewsVisual, powered by IntellectSpace) – Despite current unsavory trading conditions, Electronics Arts Inc (NASDAQ: ERTS) has resumed its efforts to acquire Take-Two Interactive Software Inc (NASDAQ: TTWO) by extending the deadline of its $2 billion offer.

Though the acceptance deadline has been extended to June 16, the amount of the offer remains unchanged. EA made its initial attempt to take over the video game producer in March, with Take-Two claiming that the offer was too low, but would resume discussions after a period of time (see article from The Wall Street Journal).

EA may be looking for other alternative ways to entice Take-Two with this latest move, considering that its target was trading above the offer price at the time of the announcement.

An IntellectSpace Knowledge Map illustrates how common executive connections could end up playing a big role in this potential deal. The most noteworthy link connects EA and Take-Two though Mark Sanders Lewis, who was with EA for fifteen years as a Senior Executive and later served as a Director at Take-Two between 2001 and 2007.

Other key relationships involve Directors and Executives from either company that may be well acquainted through a common entity.  EA Director Leonard S Coleman Jr and Take-Two Director Robert A Bowman may be well acquainted, since each has held various senior positions during overlapping years with Major League Baseball.

Additional sets of relationships through common connections link past members of the leadership teams at EA and Take-Two, which could create additional sway behind EA’s takeover offer.
